Day 10 – Surgeon
Today was two things, a routine 2 at the gym in the morning and the surgeon visit in the evening. Neither was particularly eventful. The gym was a full set of routine 2, which I also added a standing barbell row too. This was a 15 KG bar with 2 x 5 KG plates making it a 25 KG lift. I did 3 sets of 5 and it nearly killed me. Back was stiff for most of the day after that.
The run I also decided to level the incline to 0 but maintain my pace until minute 9 where I walked the last 60 seconds as a cool down. This felt better and I was nowhere near as dizzy as I was the last time I tried this. So I’m calling that progress.
The more important part of the day was the surgeon visit in the evening. I still don’t have a date for surgery but he has confirmed that we’re definitely going that route. Should be keyhole (actually it turns out, 4 keyholes) where they clamp an artery that feeds the gall bladder, clamp the bile duct, wrap everything up in a bag and yank it out of a tiny hole. Sounds impressive. He was a little surprised (as I was) that I only have one kidney and wasn’t aware, but then again, it’s not something you really go looking for without a reason. So now I’m waiting on the medical secretary to call me with a date for the surgery and I can arrange to pop down for pre-surgery tests and procedures.
All in all a successful day. Wonder why I spent most of it feeling like crap mood-wise then.
